Weddings on the farm

Each year, we are fortunate enough to be able to host a small number of Weddings. I love seeing how the space is transformed for each wedding. Every event is so personal to the couple and there are no two weddings that look or feel the same!

West Town Farm wedding bookings get use of the entire farm for 3 days. The Friday to set everything up and decorate the barn. Saturday, the BIG DAY to celebrate the new marriage and the Sunday to pack down.

So much happens in those three days and it’s such an emotional journey we go on with the couples, their family and friends.

We’re very much a DIY venue when it comes to dressing the barn. This gives couples creative freedom with how they want to decorate the barn and put their own distinctive touches into their special day. I love seeing it all come together on the Friday.

The day itself begins pretty early for us on the farm. We get the hog roast fired up, then begin preparing the salads. We go and collect the freshly baked bread that morning. Guests arrive in the afternoon and they are greeted with welcome drinks and canapés. The afternoon is spent catching up with old friends, walking the old train line or simply sitting on a hay bale in the sun. There are so many beautiful hidden corners around our farm and Summer is one of the best times to explore.

The main meal is served by us at the farm. We use our own organic meat and vegetables from Shillingford organics. The meal is served in a buffet style and is generally a relaxed affair. We offer a choice of 4 salads to accompany the meat.

Each couple has a different order to the day, whether that's speeches before food or pudding before speeches! Either way it’s a lovely relaxed day for everyone involved.

As the evening draws in, dining tables are cleared away to make space for the dance floor. We’ve had everything from barn dances, to banging DJs to covers bands. Cut off time for the bar and music is 11.30pm when the guests head down to the camping field where they can either camp down in one of our beautiful bell tents or sit round the fire.

Sunday the pack down begins but not before breakfast! The kitchen space is yours to rustle up a big breakfast and we have a hatch that opens out into the main barn so everyone can be together the morning after the night before.
